Keller Lodge was very proud to have provided 4 needy families with Thanksgiving Dinner, recently. The families were appreciative of our efforts and thanks goes to each and everyone of you that helped in that effort.

Keller Lodge now had an opportunity to help two families at Christmas time. These families were very needy due to their particular circumstances and can use all the help they can get.  Keller Lodge voted to provide the families with Christmas Dinner and gifts.  To respect the families privacy, we will not publish their information here, but we will tell you that they were very moved emotionally and spiritually by the generosity that was bestowed upon them at Christmas time by the lodge.

Many thanks go out to all the brethren who participated in preparation of the Christmas dinners for both families, and also to the brethren who stepped up and supplied the families with all of the requested items they were in need of as wrapped presents for their children.  Simple everyday items we all take for granted, like clothing for school, shoes, towels, etc...  The lodge also supplied each family with some gift cards to various businesses like Wal-Mart, Target, etc... for example so that they could take care of their own needs at their leisure.

A special shout out goes to Brother Jeff "Santa" Smith for his role in support of St. Nicholas, and Brother Ricky Cliatt for coordinating the whole thing.  Several brethren caravan-ed to the residences to deliver the Christmas dinners and gifts.  It was very moving and obvious to all the brothers present how appreciative the families were and we advised the families how the lodge would help, aid and assist if necessary in the future where each family was concerned.

Thanks again to all the brethren who helped out in this endeavor on behalf of the lodge.  These families need ongoing assistance, and if you would like to contribute to their needs, please contact us here for further information on how you can assist them.

Major Ripley Arnold Monumental Statue Dedication Ceremony

Picture
At last, Brevet Maj. Ripley A. Arnold receives fitting tribute:  The Unveiling of the Major Ripley Allen Arnold Monument and the Dedication of the John V. McMillian Plaza took place on Friday 6 June 2014 @ 10:00 am on the banks of the Trinity River.

In a Friday morning ceremony that was both moving and educational, Fort Worth reconnected with its past, honored its long and significant contributions to military history and finally paid tribute to its founder and a cherished modern-day leader.

On the banks of the Trinity River, below the bluff where the original Camp Worth was built, hundreds gathered for the unveiling of the 22-foot Major Ripley Allen Arnold Monument and the dedication of John V. McMillan Plaza.

Arnold, actually a brevet major, established a military post here 165 years ago on June 6, 1849, and named it for his former commander, Brevet Maj. Gen. Williams Jenkins Worth.

ARNOLD, RIPLEY ALLEN (1817–1853). Ripley Allen Arnold, United States Army officer, the son of Willis Arnold, was born at Pearlington, near Bay St. Louis, in Hancock County, Mississippi, on January 17, 1817, and was appointed to the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1834.

Arnold was killed at Fort Graham on September 6, 1853, by Josephus Murray Steiner, in an exchange of shots.  Arnold was first buried at Fort Graham, then disinterred and removed to Fort Worth, where he was buried in the Pioneer's Rest Cemetery, within a mile of old Fort Worth and near the graves of his two infant daughters. He was said to have received the first Masonic rites ever performed in Fort Worth. His diary and personal papers were destroyed by fire at the Fort Worth home of one of his granddaughters.

Several Dignitaries were in attendance at the dedication ceremony in addition to several local and historical associations.  See Slide Show below:  Among those in attendance:
  • Comanche Indian Veterans Association
  • NAS Fort Worth JRB Joint Color Guard
  • The Sovo Family Singers
  • Calvary Christian Academy Dragoons
  • Air National Guard Band of the Southwest
  • Kenneth Barr - Former Mayor of Fort Worth
  • Clara Ruddell and Quentin McGown - Historians
  • Pete Geren - Former Secretary of the Army
  • Captain Gil Miller - Commanding Officer , NAS Fort Worth JRB
  • Congresswoman Kay Granger
  • Betsy Price - Mayor, City of Fort Worth

Moslah Shrine Rays of Hope Gala - 1st Annual Benefit Concert & Bike Ride:

PictureHarley Davidson Street Glide ~ Grand Prize
Moslah Shrine held its 1st Annual Benefit Concert and Bike Ride Benefiting Shriners Hospital for Children in Texas was held 31st of May, 2014 at Adam Smith's Texas Harley in Bedford, Texas.  The bike ride started Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. at visited each of the Boomer Jack's locations here in Tarrant County, starting with the one in Bedford, then proceeded to the one in Arlington, then the one located at Montgomery Plaza in Fort Worth, then finally to the newest location off I-35 and Western Center in Fort Worth, then returned to Adam Smith's Texas Harley in Bedford.  Adam Smith's Texas Harley and Boomer Jack's were two of the main sponsors for the benefit concert.

In an effort to cut down on cost and raise more money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Texas, The Benefit Concert & Bike Ride was held in replacement of the original black tie Rays of Hope Gala, that used to held in downtown Fort Worth at the Worthington Hotel or Hilton Hotel.

After the bike ride a benefit concert was held Saturday afternoon with several Texas Music Scene Singer/Songwriter groups, including Waylon Pierce, Skooter Hall, and the headliner was Cooder Graw.  Also performing was former 3rd Season X Factor semi-finalist Rion Paige, who also happens to be a Shriners Hospital for Children patient out of Tampa Bay, Florida.

It was a hot day, but the food was awesome, probably one of the best burgers I've ever had at an outdoor event like this, thanks Boomer Jack's, and the beer was cold!  Raffle tickets were sold for several months leading up to the event and the Raffle drawing was held at the benefit concert.  Items that were raffled off, included: a Big Screen TV, an iPad Mini, a $500 Gift Card, a Large Big Green Egg, and the Grand Prize; a Harley Davidson Street Glide.

In attendance was the Mayor for the City of Bedford,
as well as the Moslah Divan, Potentate, and many nobles, and guest, and people from the community.  Make plans now to attend next year benefit concert

Here are some pictures and videos from the day's events:
